"The initial installation for Tempus in 1993 was SCO UNIX on an AT clone which was subsequently upgraded to a much more powerful IBM AIX platform in 1995. Along with the improved computing environment Tempus also installed WISL's freight management modules that provide facilities to support the Tempus freight audit service. With the previous DOS based solution Tempus had employed as many as 6 clerks to handle data entry. WISL data entry facilities allowed an immediate reduction in the required number of staff. However the major factor for the change in Tempus operations to deliver its audit service has come with the employment of WISL's EDI Transportation module in partnership with freight carriers. Tempus was able to translate the technical and practical advantages of this system into meaningful outcomes to convince the major freight carriers utilized by their audit customers to adopt EDI transmission of freight invoice records to replace the traditional hard copy probills. EDI also made it practical to perform individual audit on all EDI transmitted courier freight bills. Hence today Tempus provides a more comprehensive audit service on a greater number of freight transactions while employing less than 2 full time clerks for data entry."
